Meet the Ladies of Sirenhoops, Trish & Brigitte…

Trish Stolte

I became obsessed with hooping in 2007, and love it for its lessons, challenges, rewards, flow and expression. I bring enthusiasm, a knack for detail & imagery and many years of teaching experience (20+ years of teaching fitness classes including cardio, core, strength, circuit & interval) to my classes and workshops with children, teens & adults.

Highlights of my hooping life so far have been:

  • teaching classes and workshops to kids, teens & adults. Teaching is challenging & rewarding, and I learn as much from my students as they learn from me
  • the success of our free bi-weekly hoop jams at Dovercourt, which are well attended by experienced and newbie hoopers and provide an opportunity for the hoop community in Ottawa to grow
  • organizing and hosting workshops with local & visiting hoop instructors including Rich & Spiral's Hoop Technique workshops in October 2010, Nick Woolsey's poi workshops in December 2010, Rebecca Hall's Dance Technique workshop in January 2011, my twins workshops Part 1 & 2 in Nov. 2010 & Feb. 2011, and Shannon Wall's leg & foot hooping workshop in March 2011, Shakti Sunfire in June 2011, Ann Humphreys and HoopPath foundations in October 2011, Rebecca Halls for a floorwork & choreography workshop in February 2012 and 3D hooping in April with HoopCity founder and online teaching superstar SaFire, a return visit by Spiral in July 2012 and a sold out burlesque workshop by Pennsylvania's Jenny Hill, a poet & hoopdancer.
  • bringing The Hooping Life documentary (with Jenny Anderson) to Dovercourt Recreation Centre in March 2012, a successful evening that included a photo booth, marketplace, the screening and a large hoop jam
  • the privilege of attending many hoop conferences and events including Hoop Convergence in North Carolina in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 (& 2013, coming up); HoopPath workshops with Baxter in Montreal in March 2010 and in Toronto in March 2012 for his Open Air Masters workshops; the first Return to Roots Hoop Gathering in September 2011 in Hawley, Pennsylvania.

In January of 2012, I was fortunate enough to attend "The Pulse of the Radiant Feminine Heart" hoop/ yoga/ drumming retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii organized by Shakti Sunfire, as well as take part in the Hoop Revolution Teacher Training with Anah Reichenbach and Rayna McInturf (See my instructor profile on the Hoop Revolution website)

I've taught hooping to adults in classes and workshops at Dovercourt and elsewhere, teenagers at Woodroffe High School and Richard Pfaff School, and elementary aged kids at Pinecrest Public School, Broadview Public School and in the after school program at Dovercourt Recreation Centre, as well as at community events and shows.

Brigitte Ethier

I have been in love with Hoopdance since my first encounter with this art in 2006 and have passionately trained and honed my technique and presentation over the last few years. With a strong background in figure skating and training under world renowned coaches and choreographers, I bring grace and fluidity to my movements and intricate hoop manipulation, as well as deliver an energetic and engaging performance. I'm an avid hoop performer and instructor teaching regular hoop classes in the Ottawa/ Gatineau area. I have been a professional hoop performer since 2008 and am excited to present  solo or duet/trio numbers featuring regular hoops, spectacular LED glow hoops or fire hoop and fire fans.
